We will work closely with your team of medical professionals including doctors, nurses and therapists. | Wheelchair Ramps |
 |
"Not all wheelchair ramps are created equal." A wheelchair ramp does not have to be an eyesore constructed of metal or wood. Our company takes pride in designing wheelchair ramps that can actually enhance the beauty of your home and serve your needs as well. Traditionally, ramps are built of wood, probably do not meet building codes and are not visually pleasing. Some ramps are built as temporary structures to serve a short-term need. But in the situation when this structure is a permanent solution due to a change in lifestyle, why not make it blend in with the landscape and the surroundings?
We have built wheelchair ramps of wood that have been made part of a porch or deck with decorative railings and skirts. We have built several ramps using masonry products that blend into the landscape design to enhance the beauty of the home. Our ramps are designed with gentle slopes, landings to give you a break, handrails to offer assistance and security that meet residential building code and, above all, to meet your specific needs. Ramps can be constructed so seemlessly that one would not realize that they have just entered a wheelchair accessible home. Let us design one for you! |

| Roll-In Showers |
 |
Every situation is different. Everyone has different needs and abilities. A roll-in shower can provide the answer for a person that wants to have a shower but may have difficulty ambulating or not have the endurance to stand in a shower. A roll-in shower that is wheelchair accessible may be the answer. Maybe a shower with a small curb and a bench would be the answer. Maybe you need grab bars to provide that extra security. A hand-held shower head and adjustable handle is a nice addition to any shower and a necessary addition to a shower for someone with special needs.
In most cases, an existing bathroom can be retrofitted with some sort of Curbless Shower. Again, size and configuration must be designed for the specific need. Roll-in showers can be constructed from ceramic tile, cultured marble or pre-manufactured composite materials. They can be outfitted with grab bars, benches, hand-held shower heads, body sprayers, shelving, towel racks and glass doors. Let us give you some ideas to think about! |

| Elevators |
 |
Do you live in a two-story home and think you need to move because your medical situation has changed? Think again! An Elevator Installation in your home may be just the answer. Residential Elevators are becoming more common and popular in today’s Universal Access Design Homes. They offer convenience to the able-bodied user, an option for someone with physical limitations and necessity for the wheelchair user. Elevators have been designed and are installed to be a reliable alternative to stairs while being able to stay within the familiar surroundings of your home. Most homes can be modified to make provisions for an elevator installation. An elevator may be a cost-effective alternative to selling and being "up-rooted" from your home. Let us discuss this option with you!

| Special Needs Remodeling |
 |
NC Properties Construction Co., Inc. performs remodeling projects that you would not believe. Our goal is to make additions or improvements to your home that are "seamless" in the appearance so that it looks like it is not "added on to the existing" but more like it has "enhanced the existing." Many of these renovations are done to make the homes wheelchair accessible and include the construction of ramps, elevators, door widening and installing roll-in showers.
When modifying your home to accommodate the special needs of you or your loved one, there are a variety of aspects to consider. It is important to assess both the current and future needs.
- Is the situation temporary or permanent?
- What is the extent of remodeling needed?
- Is the home suitable for the modification?
|
- Will the modification increase the value?
- Cost to modify vs. new construction
|
NC Properties Construction Co., Inc. can help answer these questions for you. We will assess your needs and provide cost estimates in order for you to make an informed decision. And whether you decide to remodel or build new, we will work with you to fulfill your needs. Our goal is to make your building or home modification experience pleasant.

| Uniquely Qualified |
 |
I, Michael Petkauskos, have a BS degree in Industrial Engineering. I was in industry for several years before entering into the construction field. For over 20 years I have been responsible for the construction of many new homes and have completed several renovation projects in Massachusetts. All of my projects were done paying strict attention to detail and quality while maintaining the character of the existing structure.
In 1993, I was involved in a serious accident that almost took my life and I suffered a spinal cord injury. I am a wheelchair user and am quite familiar with the special needs of people that have undergone life-changing experiences. I feel I am an expert and uniquely qualified to build Handicap Housing and offer my Consulting Services.
